At Nectar Brands, we have developed effective treatment protocols for managing insomnia and sleep disturbances. By combining the rapid effects of dried Cultiva flower with the sustained release of Blüm Rest pastilles, this protocol offers a holistic approach to improving sleep quality.
Blüm Rest pastilles, taken before bed, provide sustained relief with their slow-release formulation of CBN, CBD, and THC. CBN has sedative effects, while CBD reduces anxiety and regulates sleep cycles, and THC helps improve sleep onset. The pastilles are metabolised gradually, providing sustained cannabinoid release and longer-lasting effects throughout the night.
In contrast, Cultiva strains like Bacio Gelato and Jealousy deliver rapid relief when vaporised, addressing nighttime awakenings or breakthrough symptoms. Terpenes like myrcene and linalool enhance the sedative and anxiety-reducing effects of THC. Together, the Blüm Rest pastilles offer sustained relief, while the Cultiva strains provide immediate symptom relief, creating a well-rounded approach to improving sleep.

Insomnia treatment protocol
This treatment aims to address both immediate and sustained relief, ensuring a comprehensive solution for patients with sleep disturbances.
Immediate relief (Dried Cannabis Flower)
- Onset of action: Rapid onset, typically within 5–15 minutes of inhalation, to provide immediate relief from nocturnal awakenings and breakthrough insomnia symptoms.
- Indication: To be used as needed for initial sleep onset, acute sleep disturbances, or middle-of-the-night awakening.
Sustained support (Blüm Rest Pastilles)
- Mechanism of action: The pastilles provide a controlled, sustained release, offering prolonged effects for improved sleep throughout the night.
- Indication: To be taken at bedtime as the primary intervention, delivering consistent therapeutic effects during the sleep cycle.
Safety considerations
- Caution: Advise patients not to drive or operate heavy machinery after dosing due to the sedative effects.
- Monitoring: Regular monitoring for potential adverse effects, including:
- Persistent morning sedation or grogginess
- Cognitive impairment (e.g., memory or concentration issues)
- Mood changes (e.g., irritability, anxiety)
- Drug interactions with CNS depressants (e.g., benzodiazepines, alcohol)
- Follow-Up and Adjustment
- Timing: Schedule follow-up consultations 2–4 weeks post-initiation to assess treatment efficacy, tolerability, and potential adjustments.
- Assessment: Review patient progress, including any adverse effects or changes in sleep patterns. Adjust dosages or treatment regimen if necessary.
Additional recommendations
Encourage good sleep hygiene practices alongside treatment:
- Maintain a consistent sleep schedule.
- Reduce screen time before bed.
